Woven Time: A Lauhala Gift After a Watch Purchase
In the world of watches, we often talk about time as if it lives only in steel and sapphire, in dials and movements. But sometimes, time shows up in unexpected ways—woven not in gears, but in leaves.
Recently, after helping a client source a timepiece they’d been searching for, they surprised me with a gift: a lauhala basket. At first glance, it’s simple, functional. But as with any piece crafted by hand, there’s a story woven into every strand.
In Hawaiian tradition, lauhala carries more than utility—it carries mana, the spirit and energy of the weaver. A basket, in particular, represents abundance, provision, and the spirit of sharing. To receive one after the exchange of a watch felt symbolic: two objects, worlds apart, yet united by the same values—craftsmanship, patience, and heritage.
Watches remind us of the moments worth keeping. Lauhala reminds us that those moments are best when shared. To me, this basket isn’t just a gift—it’s a reminder of why I built PR Timepieces in the first place: relationships. Every watch we place on a wrist carries a story, and sometimes those stories come back to us in the form of a woven basket, offered in gratitude.
Time isn’t only measured—it’s felt. And this gift was time, spirit, and connection, woven together.
