The Power of Parking Lots: How One Car Meet Shaped PR Timepieces and the Creation of our ‘Wrist & Wheel’ Series
I still remember my first car meet.
It was in South Orange County, California—my hometown.
I wasn’t expecting much. Just figured I’d spend a quiet morning admiring some beautiful machines, maybe snap a few photos, and head home.
What I didn’t expect was to walk into a moment that would quietly shape the future of PR Timepieces.
Where Cars and Watches Collide
There’s something powerful about a well-curated car. Just like a great watch, it tells you more than specs or value ever could. It tells you about the owner. Their taste. Their patience. Their ability to say no to the wrong thing and wait for the right one.
As I walked through rows of Porsches, vintage Land Cruisers, Ferraris, and perfectly restored restomods, I noticed something: everyone was filled with life.
But it wasn’t just the hardware.
It was the people.
No Ego, Just Enthusiasm
This was the most surprising part.
Here were people from every walk of life—real estate agents, creatives, mechanics, surgeons, small business owners, students—gathered not to show off, but to share.
They weren’t just talking about the watches on their wrists or the cars they pulled up in. They were talking about the journey to get them. The sacrifices. The grind. The moment they saw the one and decided to pull the trigger.
There was no posturing. No one trying to out-flex the next.
Just stories, handshakes, and genuine respect.
Everyone wanted to help each other—whether it was pointing someone toward a good mechanic, recommending a strapmaker, or sharing advice on sourcing their first Speedmaster.
A Turning Point for PR Timepieces
I walked away from that meet with more than a photo roll of beautiful cars.
I walked away with a blueprint.
That day was one of the earliest moments I can trace back to the philosophy behind PR Timepieces. A belief that collecting watches—or anything well made—isn’t about ego. It’s about taste, time, and community.
Watches and cars are bridges. They bring people together.
They spark real conversations.
They celebrate stories—not just things.
And when you bring enough people together around those values, something special happens.
Why These Events Still Matter
In a world that’s increasingly digital, a car-and-watch meetup reminds us that real connection still matters. That standing next to someone while they talk about the car they rebuilt with their dad, or the watch they wore the day they got married, is a powerful thing.
So whether you’re new to the scene or thinking of hosting your own, don’t underestimate the value of these events. Sometimes, all it takes is one parking lot to change your perspective—and maybe even your path.
At PR Timepieces, we’re here for the stories.
And some of the best ones still start in parking lots, around steel and rubber and steel and sapphire—brought to life by people who worked hard to earn them.
Let’s keep showing up.
Let’s keep sharing.
And let’s keep building the kind of collecting culture that lasts.
Introducing Wrist & Wheel — Where Horology Meets Horsepower
Some of the best ideas come from the side of a road, a parking lot, or a casual meetup that turns into something more. Wrist & Wheel was born out of one of those moments — a simple watch and car meetup that reminded us how much overlap there is between the worlds of precision timekeeping and performance driving. Both attract those who appreciate craftsmanship, heritage, and a healthy dose of adrenaline.
We’re excited to launch this new blog series spotlighting iconic pairings of cars and watches — not just for how they look together, but for the stories they tell. Each post in Wrist & Wheel will feature one watch and one car, chosen for the way they echo each other in spirit, design, or legacy. From vintage racers and classic chronographs to electric supercars and cutting-edge timepieces, we’ll explore the machines that move us — on the wrist and on the road.
Stay tuned for builds, engines, movements, and memories — all through the lens of speed, style, and storytelling.
